- How much do you search for inspiration from the book, and how much from other productions? What is your portrayal based on?

- Mostly the book. Very little from other productions. I have watched Philip Quast, who is really good, the original Javert… That’s where I get help for the singing part: how they solve technical problems. But the whole character, he’s from the book. The book is so much better, let’s put it that way, than ours… Well, I can’t say better, but it’s much fuller than the musical sсript.

Swedish is a softer language. It’s closer to English, I think. The whole [Swedish-language] production was closer to the English one. In Finnish, in Helsinki, it was fun to do because the language is somehow so, well, harder. I think Finnish suits Javert very well. It’s fun to get to do it again.

The most challenging thing is not to make [Javert] a bad guy. Not to walk and appear in a “look how evil I am” kind of manner. He has to have vulnerability, that’s a really strong trait [in him].

Еще он хочет сыграть Пилата. И хотел сыграть Анжольраса, когда собирались в Финляндии ставить впервые :'''''') И как Жавера ему стало легче понять с опытом и годами!

И что у него все-таки финский не настолько родной (что нужно было заниматься, перед мюзиклом) - ыы. Я не знала, билингв он с детства или нет. )))
